Nice moment. Quickly stood out from the rest.

Judges Comments:
Yes, it’s a cute animal, but still pretty funny. We liked the inclusion of the woman on the phone.

Great moment. We love the protesting granny.

GN-General_News 2nd Place 40 Points
Photographer: Joe Vitti

Judges Comments:
We like the collection of faces, each expressing grief in their own way. We do think the photo could have been cropped a bit tighter to cleanup the edges and zero in on the faces.

Judges Comments:
We like the juxtaposition of the small pile being burned and the massive amount of destruction surrounding the women and the burning pile.

Multiple_Entry 1st Place 50 Points
Photographer: Denny Simmons

Judges Comments:
There is a very nice story here, but the entry needs some serious editing. There are just far too many photographs that do not contribute to the narrative of the story. This criticism is true of several other entries as well.

Photographer: Matt Detrich/Indianapolis Star

Judges Comments:
Like the first place entry, this needed some editing. There is a nice variety of photos.

Multiple_Entry 3rd Place 30 Points
Photographer: Matt Detrich/Indianapolis Star

Judges Comments:
It looks like the photographer spent a considerable amount of time shooting the story. There are some very pretty storm images. We felt the story lacked good photos of the storm chasers doing whatever they do during the storm. This entry could also have been more tightly edited.

A rather different baseball picture. Great combination of fan reaction and player on fence.
