A unique point of view with great framing and vibrant colors. The photographer thought outside of the box for this shot and everything else came together perfectly.

A well-seen picture. Lacks a real moment, but we still enjoyed the humor that the photographer picked up on.

Multiple_Entry 2nd Place 40 Points
Photographer: Mykal McEldowney, The Indianapol
Image:ma_mcmi_01
Judges Comments:
The photographer did a good job moving his or her feet and showing a routine news assignment from multiple perspectives.

Multiple_Entry 3rd Place 30 Points
Photographer: Alisha Jucevic, The Herald
Image:ma_amjj_01
Judges Comments:
The photographer obviously put a good amount of time and thought to this story. It is well shot with good moments and would have risen to the top in a photo story category. The judges would have liked to see a more well-defined categorical division between narrative photo stories and multiple picture entries.

SA-Sports-Action 1st Place 50 Points
Photographer: Ariana van den Akker

Judges Comments:
Nice catch. Home plate can sometimes be a mess of bodies and a hard place to get a clean photo.

SA-Sports-Action 2nd Place 40 Points
Photographer: Sarah Ann Jump, The Herald
Image:sa_sajj_01
Judges Comments:
Nice light, nice subtle colors, nice framing. A solid graphic photo all around.

SA-Sports-Action 3rd Place 30 Points
Photographer: Jenna Watson, Indianapolis Star
Image:sa_jrwi_01
Judges Comments:
A little busy, but you can’t beat the action here. Crowd reaction helps, but it’s not quite clean enough to move up to 2nd or 1st.

SF-Sports-Feature 1st Place Cream of the Crop 60 Points
Photographer: Mykal McEldowney, The Indianapolis Star

Judges Comments:
A really beautiful photograph. Great light and a nice, quiet moment that we all know the feeling of. Nice work hanging back and keeping an eye off the court.

SF-Sports-Feature 2nd Place 40 Points
Photographer: Jenna Watson, Indianapolis Star

Judges Comments:
Good on the photographer for positioning him or herself for a solid finishing shot. Well-framed, and the reflection of the track in the glasses is a nice easter egg.

SF-Sports-Feature 3rd Place 30 Points
Photographer: Sarah Ann Jump, The Herald

Judges Comments:
Baseball players are weird. Good on the photographer for remembering that and for not heading back to the car during the rain delay. A quirky moment that not a lot of people expect or get to see.
