This found moment stood out above the rest. The juxtaposition of the small girl sitting in a giant wheel is fun, and the composition is nice and clean.

Judges Comments:
We like the layers of people and the different expressions, especially the guy holding the camcorder facing the opposite direction and the face of the guy in the checkered plaid. The photo makes you want to know more in a good way. Would like to see a bit of a tighter crop from the top.

F-Feature 3rd Place 30 Points
Photographer: Sam Owens, Evansville Courier & Press

Judges Comments:
We like the candidness of this photo and the moment with the girl in pink. Nicely composed with the line of other popsicle eaters.

We love the photo for its pictorial quality, with the lines and parachutes naturally leading us from left to right in the frame. Nice colors and negative space.

This was a small category. This photo makes good use of layers and color. Would be more conscious of not truncating the man’s leg on the right of the frame.

Love the subject of the story and seeing a different side of bodybuilding competitions. Also appreciate how much the photographer spent time with Collin outside of just the competition to provide a more well-rounded story. Could have been a tighter edit.

We like the contrast and pull of the leading lines with the crosswalks. Would have possibly used another less or aperture to make some of the background less busy.

Judges Comments:
We appreciate the photographer waiting for the cows to come and look at the camera as well. Interesting choice to have him sitting down in the field instead of standing, making them feel more equal. Could be toned a little lighter.

Beautiful, beautiful work with this weather photo. Nice colors and textures. We just placed it lower since there wasn’t a human element involved.
