3rd Place GN-General_News  Caitlin O  Caption: Eric Evitts and his daughter, Addi, 3, played with Sloopy, a whippet-labrador retriever mix they received a month ago from an organization that gives pets to veterans Sept. 11 at their home in Ferdinand. Evitts served as a corporal in Afghanistan in 2009 with the U.S. Marine Corps. He found the first 18 months home to be liberating but then started having some trouble adjusting. He was skeptical of anxiety and depression medication because he'd heard it contributed to veteran suicide, and sought another form of therapy.
