Photographer did an excellent job filling the frame with the subjects. There’s a lot of elements to keep you engaged for a long time in the photograph. Well layered (We love layers!)

Such a strong moment. You feel the emotion of the situation right away. There’s a lot going on, but it’s as clean as it can be. The emotion stops you right away.

There’s a great sense of place in the photo, with also a great moment in it. There’s context. You can tell why he’s upset without even reading the caption.

LOVE the lead image. Like the visual variety of the essay. Think there’s a nice combination of moments and images that are graphically appealing. The vertical is a nice photo, but our eyes are drawn to the white background and the subject kind of gets lost.
